Operational Adjustments due to Airport Incident in Louisville, Kentucky

An aircraft accident has taken place at Worldport, UPS’s main hub in the United States. As a result, UPS is making the following operational adjustments for Air shipments scheduled for delivery on November 6, 2025:

  • Delivery commitment times for UPS Next Day Air® Early and UPS Worldwide Express Plus® services to the U.S will be extended by 90 minutes.
  • Delivery commitment times for UPS Next Day Air®, UPS 2nd Day Air A.M.®, and UPS Worldwide Express® services to commercial and residential locations in the U.S. and all other time definite Air and International Air services will be extended to end-of-day (11:59 p.m. on the guaranteed day of delivery).

The money-back guarantee (also known as the UPS® Service Guarantee) is suspended for all packages either shipped from or delivered to the United States until further notice.

Contingency plans are in place to help ensure that shipments arrive at their final destinations as quickly as conditions permit.

UPS is committed to the safety of our employees, our customers and the communities we serve. This is particularly true in Louisville, home to our airline and thousands of UPSers. Update on U.S. Import De Minimis Exemption Suspension

Effective August 29, 2025, the de minimis exemption for low-value shipments (under $800 USD) to the U.S. has been suspended, meaning all U.S. imports, regardless of value, origin, or entry mode, will be subject to applicable U.S. duties and taxes that may be charged to the receiver of the goods if the shipper did not prepay these fees in advance.

This change has resulted in a substantial rise of formal customs clearances, which has led to increased processing times and delays particularly for shipments that require input from other government agencies like FDA eligible shipments.

It is now also mandatory for all shipments to the U.S. to include information pertaining to the country-of-origin for each commodity on your commercial invoices when creating your shipment.

Actions to Take:

  • Ensure complete and accurate commercial invoice information, including product details, country-of-origin, HTSUS code, quantity, and value.
  • Include information pertaining to the country-of-origin for each commodity on your commercial invoices when creating your shipment.
  • For shipments requiring formal entries, provide an Importer Tax ID with EIN or SSN.
  • Include the recipient’s email and contact information for duty and tax collection.

Potential delays due to Poland reintroducing border controls with Lithuania and Germany

Since Monday, 7 July 2025, Poland has reintroduced border controls at its borders with Lithuania and Germany. These controls took effect at midnight on 7 July and are scheduled to remain in place until 5 August 2025. This period may be extended.

The reintroduction of these controls may affect road traffic capacity and result in transport delays. As a result, UPS deliveries crossing the borders with Germany and Lithuania may be delayed.
